Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation around 5:00 am for a scenic 2.5-hour drive to Akagera National Park in Eastern Rwanda. Along the way, we’ll stop at Imigongo Art Café, where you can enjoy coffee or a quick refreshment and use the facilities before we continue to the park.

Akagera is home to the iconic Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and black rhinos. In addition to these, keep your camera ready for sightings of zebras, giraffes, antelopes, and a rich array of bird species. Optional activities such as sunrise/sunset boat rides, night game drives, and hot air balloon safaris are also available upon request.

Upon arrival, your guide will handle the registration and paperwork, ensuring a seamless start to your adventure. The safari begins with a game drive from the southern to the northern region of Akagera, maximizing your chances to see the park’s incredible wildlife.

After a rewarding day, we’ll exit via the northern gate and begin the 2.5-hour drive back to Kigali, arriving in the early evening.

As we travel through Akagera’s savannah and forested areas, we’ll encounter diverse habitats that support a wide variety of species. The northern part of the park, with its expansive savannah, is particularly ideal for spotting lions and rhinos, whose populations have been reintroduced and are thriving. The park’s lakes are also a prime location for spotting hippos, birdlife, and crocodiles.
