Day trip to Akagera National PARK
On this day the guide will leave your place of accommodation at around 5h00 in the Morning drive to the Eastern part of Rwanda where Akagera National park is located , which is 2h 30 min drive from Kigali. On your way , you will have a stopover at Imigongo art Café in case you need to use the bathroom or want to grab some coffee , then continue to the park .
When you get in the park you get guide will take care of all the paper work and starts the game drive. As you make your way from the southern part of Akagera all the way to the northern part.
The northern part has wide savannah’s and is where we are most likely to spot Lions and Rhinoceros’. The lions were introduced few years ago and their numbers are increasing very healthily and the Rhinos as well , so it will be a great day if you manage to spot them. This is big savannah park with several lakes dotting the landscape creating further opportunities to spot birdlife and hippos. This park has got a wide range of animals including the safari’s big five animals which are : Lions , Leopards, Elephants ,Buffaloes and the Black Rhinos. It also has Antelopes plus Zebras etc ... there are some other activities like you can choose from in Akagera like Sunrise/sunset boat ride , night game drive , and hot air ballon Late in the afternoon you’ll exit via the northern gate of Akagera and return to Kigali which is a 2h30min hours drive. This will be a very rewarding experience so remember to carry your camera so as to capture every memorable event.
